Camera Malfunction

My Aunty Carol never failed to provide us with a few giggles whenever we met. With all our lives being very busy, and with the distance apart we all lived, Ward family gatherings were always very special to me. Aunty Carol would always be so happy to see me, would always remember everything that was happening in my life and would happily offer advice & support when required.

I have many happy memories of family gatherings when we would chat about all sorts of things. But my most enduring memory is an incident that happened at a family wedding. I cannot remember whose wedding it was, but we were all standing outside after the ceremony, whilst the photographer was doing his thing. This was before the digital camera or phone camera made an appearance. Aunty Carol had a 35mm camera, which I think was new, & was happily taking pictures, but seemed to be having an issue with her camera. My Dad, Brian (Carols Brother), asked her if she was OK. "Oh fine thank you", she replied. "I'm just having trouble seeing what I'm taking pictures of because this camera seems to make everyone look so far away & tiny" My Dad smiled at her, took the camera out of her hands, turned it around and gave it back, saying "I think you'll find it works a lot better if you look through the right end!" Aunty Carol absolutely lost the plot, and was still giggling hysterically later in the day, as she told anyone who would listen about her "Camera Malfunction". I never saw the pictures that she took that day, but am assuming she had a fair few closeups of her own nose & mouth.

My lovely Aunty Carol, I'm sure wherever you are now, you are happily chatting away to everyone you meet. I like to think you are now reunited with my Dad, along with other members of our family that have passed, having a good old chinwag.

Love you always Aunty Carol xxxx
